Today Daphne and I got together all the paintings we think may go into our HB Punto Experimental gallery exhibition. We set panels and canvases up all over the front of our studio, where the light is best. And amazingly, it looks like a show. Of course, it will be even better when placed in relation to sculptures by two other artists: Hugo Heredia, whose wire and glass work will mainly hang from the ceiling, and Miya Hannan, who will do floor and pedestal pieces of cement and resin.
Our paintings for the exhibition, tentatively called “Trapped Reflections,” are from our Elements Series, with the possible addition of a few Florals that may somehow fit. The work is not easy--it's gothic with a sort of rancid beauty. The whole show will hopefully look like it smells of decay. Hugo, Miya, Daphne and I will meld the space into a seamless, dark installation, invoking nature through artificial materials. At least, that's the plan!

The show will open on September 3, 2016 at HB Punto Experimental, 2151 Logan Ave., San Diego.
